Overview
Gates of Olympus is one of Pragmatic Play’s most recognisable video slots, casting you at the summit of Mount Olympus where Zeus himself presides over the reels. Instead of traditional paylines, the game uses a 6×5 grid with a “pay anywhere” system: land eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen and you are paid, regardless of position. It is a high-volatility title with a headline maximum win of 5,000x your bet, powered by cascading wins and multiplier orbs. This guide explains every rule and feature in plain language so you know exactly how the game behaves before you try the free demo.
How to play
Set your total stake using the coin or bet controls at the bottom of the screen, then spin the 6×5 grid. Wins are formed by clusters of eight or more identical symbols appearing anywhere — there are no fixed lines to follow. After every winning combination, the successful symbols are removed and new ones tumble down to fill the gaps, giving you consecutive chances from a single paid spin. A tumble sequence continues until no new wins are created.
Symbols
The lower-value symbols are five coloured gems (blue, green, yellow, purple and red), while the higher-value symbols are a golden chalice, ring, hourglass and, at the top, an ornate crown. The bearded Zeus scatter is the key to the bonus. During tumbles you will also see glowing multiplier orbs that carry values from 2x up to 500x.
Bonus features
Multiplier orbs can appear on any spin; when they land as part of a winning tumble sequence, their values are added together and applied to the total win of that sequence. Landing four or more Zeus scatters awards the free spins round, which begins with 15 spins. The real power of free spins is that multiplier orbs stay on a running total — every multiplier that appears is added to a global counter and applied to all wins for the rest of the round. Three more scatters during the feature retrigger another five spins. An optional Ante Bet increases your stake by 25% to double the chance of scatters, while a Buy Free Spins option (where permitted) purchases direct entry to the round.
RTP & volatility
The default published RTP for Gates of Olympus is around 96.50%, though operators may configure alternative RTP versions. RTP (Return to Player) is a long-run statistical average measured across millions of spins, not a promise for any single session. Because this is a high-volatility slot, results tend to swing: long quiet stretches can be punctuated by rare, very large multiplier-driven wins.
Play & bankroll notes
There is no strategy that changes the mathematical edge of a slot, but you can manage how you play. Choose a bet size that lets you comfortably absorb the dry spells that high volatility produces, and set a session limit before you begin. The Ante Bet trades a higher cost per spin for more frequent bonus triggers, which some players prefer; others keep the base stake to make their balance last longer in the demo.
